Let's call this the 'Half-Season Recap'.
July 1st the PCOT had a great turnout for the Canada Day Parade as it wound its way through the Pointe-Claire village. See some of the photos HERE.
The rest of summer seemed to pass by way too quickly, but we did catch our own 'tough guy' Mike Maglieri 'in-the-corner' with none other than Chris 'Knuckles' Nilan. Some how Mike survived...
The Fall Mini was a success with the Hawks edging out the Habs 3 – 2 in the final.
September 18 the 2011-12 regular season started without the much anticipated league restructuring… apparently not enough members signed-on to the proposed rec division. Stay tuned for more changes to come…
October the PCOT put a ‘last-minute’ team into the Greenfield Park tournament (over 35 division), Although there we quite a few over 50s playing on said team they did manage to go-all-the-way and win their division. Congrats!
The PCOT team entered in the Westmount tournament and in the end… they ‘had-fun’ (as usual).
November was a busy month with the PCOT laying a wreath on Remembrance Day,
the Annual Blood Drive achieved 91 units donated, and last but not least…
We gave 100,000$ to mostly local charities on our annual Donation Night. Fantastic!! Photos HERE.
As we head into the Xmas break each division seems to have one team that has its respective cellar ‘locked-up’. But don’t worry guys, anything can and will happen in the 2nd half. And we all make the playoff anyways
The Xmas mini (Dec 27-30) gives those participating a chance to work-off all that turkey. Have fun guys.
Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, and have a safe and prosperous New Year!
Well, it’s been awhile, so there’s a lot to catch up on.
For those who missed the excitement at the AGM in May, here are the highlights...
Keith Jensen is the new President for the 2011-12 season.
To see the rest of the executive & directors click HERE.
Mike McGovern is this year’s recipient of the ‘Oldtimers Spirit Award' (previously the Lady Regan award).
Mike D’Arrisso is this year’s ‘Wall of Honour’ inductee.
And last, but definitely not least, the 2011-12 season will have a new structure (or is that restructure…). There will be a 4th as yet unnamed ‘Recreation’ division. The exact number of teams will depend on the number of members who signup to move to this new division. There will be more info on this in the coming weeks.
(See what happens when you don’t come to the AGM…)
On May 16, Mothers for Others (one of the PCOT beneficiaries) donated 96 quilts to the pediatric ICU at the Montreal Children’s hospital. Click on the photo of Vito & Bruce to read more.
On May 29 clan Erfle ran a Half Marathon in Ottawa for Parkinson’s research (another PCOT beneficiary). Read more about it HERE.
Don’t forget… this Saturday June 4 is the PCOT Golf Tournament. Have fun everyone!
The 'Greenest Tournament on Ice' has started with a great on-ice display by the 70+ division. You would think they were playing for the Stanley Cup!
Sorry guys, its only here on Saturday for a few hours. You cannot take it home.
Monday was Smoked Meat, served by Delibee owner Philip Varvaro, and it was great.
Remember everyone, we're playing for the fun of the game, a few beers and ALL the money goes to charity!
From May 20th to the 22nd, 2011 St. Thomas High School will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary
