The beginnings
In the mid ‘60s, an association called the Pointe-Claire Amateur Athletic Association (P.C.A.A.A.) was
created to promote baseball and football in our community. Many of the directors at that time were
interested in hockey, and in 1966 the Pointe-Claire Oldtimers Hockey Club Inc. was founded and the legal
charter was issued on the 27th of September 1967.
Some of the original members included: Bob Birnie, Bernard Boileau, Jack Boyd, Bernie Doyle,
Bill Elliot, Jack O’Brien, Guy Ouellette, Claude Ranger, Mac Robertson, Doug Smith, René Vendette,
and Bill Wilkinson.
In the club’s inaugural year, interest was high, enabling it to establish 4 teams of 14 players each.
These original teams were named Les Agés, Wildcats, Dark Horses, and Bald Eagles.
It was not long before the fledgling club was faced with a major dilemma - it saw almost fifty
percent of the registered players quitting after their first game. Showing the same determination
with which the club was formed, the remaining members went ahead and recruited replacements to
successfully finish the first season.
